QAV Technologies Sdn. Bhd. of Malaysia approved as first global participant of new program
WEST BADEN SPRINGS, IN / ACCESSWIRE / October 6, 2014 / The Independent Distributors of Electronics Association (IDEA) announces the launch of a new program that encourages designated participation in IDEA for companies that are not Independent Distributors. The Qualified Program Participant Company (QPPC) Program was developed to expand access to IDEA’s products and services and to broaden the reach of its highly detailed standards that help organizations to develop and maintain their counterfeit mitigation efforts.
The QPPC Program has launched for Test Services Companies, the first category of many other company categories in development. For the QPPC – Test Services Program, an applicant company must meet a comprehensive and rigorous set of requirements, including the requirement to maintain IDEA-ICE-3000 Professional Inspector Certifications, and the applicant company must be approved by the Membership and Ethics Oversight Committee.
IDEA is pleased to announce that QAV Technologies Sdn. Bhd. was approved as the first QPPC – Test Services program participant. Debra Eggeman, IDEA Executive Director, commented, “It is long overdue that we developed a program that brought quality test services companies into the IDEA family. Today, I am pleased to announce that after months of highly detailed review and due diligence, QAV, located in Penang, Malaysia, has become our first QPPC – Test Services program participant. Penang represents a large portion of electronics manufacturing, and I am pleased that QAV has attained and satisfied all requirements for the program.”
“We are pleased to become the first participant in this exciting new program. During our interaction with IDEA over the past year, we feel that the QPPC Program and our participation in it will strengthen Malaysia by bringing in new global standards and processes. These very standards shall help us both maintain leadership status,” states John See, President of QAV. “We also look forward to assisting IDEA with additional programs that shall better inform the Asian community about counterfeit mitigation and inspection processes.”
To ensure consistency and appropriate program requirements that align with IDEA’s mission and directive, IDEA invested over one year in development of the QPPC Program infrastructure, the Test Services category, and subsequent preparation of program documents. The Board of Trustees voted unanimously to approve the creation of the QPPC Program and the launch of the Test Services category.
Paul Romano, President of the IDEA Board of Trustees, is also enthusiastic about the QPPC Program. “The opening of this program for test services companies is critical since many customers want to ensure their parts are properly tested. By completing the circle, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and EMS Providers (EMSs) can now feel comfortable that IDEA standards are being utilized throughout the entire supply chain,” noted Romano.
Eggeman continued, “I am so excited that we can now allow a new class of companies to participate within IDEA. Since many OEMs and EMSs have expressed an interest in conducting business with companies affiliated with IDEA, we felt the program was not only timely, but more importantly allows IDEA to expand its counterfeit mitigation programs and services to more of the industry overall, thus further protecting the supply chain from counterfeit parts.”
IDEA looks forward to welcoming new companies that successfully meet the rigorous compliance requirements of the IDEA QPPC Program and that will subsequently contribute to the success of IDEA’s mission and efforts. With this, IDEA will continue to expand products and services to the industry by developing policy and best practices for issues that occur within and affect the Open Market as well as the education, training, and certification programs that will effectively address them.
