—Results-Driven, Actively Involved in Electronics Distribution for Over 25 Years—
PRINCETON JUNCTION, NJ, February 4, 2005—In order to help drive the association’s new industry initiatives and growth efforts, the Independent Distributors of Electronics Association (IDEA) has appointed Debra Eggeman as general manager. Eggeman has over 25 years experience in the electronics industry and brings a wealth of experience from the manufacturing, product development and quality professions.
Debra is an energetic, intellectual and results-driven person who will no doubt assist us in building the association and bringing about significant positive changes in the industry through her involvement in IDEA,” said Nick Davis, president, IDEA. “Additionally, with her expansive background in supply chain management, Debra recognizes the many barriers that exist for independent distributors and their customers, and understands how important and valuable the quality and ethically-minded independent segment of the electronics supply chain is to the industry.”
In this essential role, Eggeman’s leadership responsibilities will include working with IDEA, its members and other industry associations to find ways to deter and reduce risk of the continual influx of counterfeit and other substandard parts, to agree on industry standards and in some instances, to provide self-regulation.
“I am ready, as general manager of IDEA, to help affect this positive change.I passionately believe that the independent market is ready for this opportunity and will indeed ‘legitimize’ itself once and for all,” states Eggeman.
Before joining IDEA, Eggeman served as vice president of operations and quality for Rand Technology, where she was instrumental in directing the opening of the company’s inspection and logistics operations in the UK and Singapore. Additionally, under Debra’s direction, Rand’s quality system was upgraded to gain ISO 9001:2000 certifications by TUV Essen.
Prior to Rand, Eggeman was employed by Odetics, Inc. for over 20 years.During this time, she held various positions in manufacturing, quality assurance and product development. In 1996, she was promoted to Director of Quality Management Systems for two of Odetics’ commercial business units, bringing both businesses to ISO 9001 registration with zero findings by 1997.
Based in Princeton Junction, NJ, Independent Distributors of Electronics Association (IDEA) is a non-profit trade association that represents the independent distributor market segment with a cohesive voice, raises quality through the establishment of standards, and educates members and those who are willing to take the necessary steps to meet the standard. The organization, which is run by a board representing both large and small distributors in the independent distribution industry, provides a vehicle for customers who share the same quality, business and ethical standards to identify quality distributors in which to buy.
